The waterfall methodology is the most traditional methodology. It consists of sequential phases and there are goals for each phase. The phases are requirements, design, implementation, verification, and maintenance. Each phase depends on deliverables from the previous phase. Because of this, a phase must be completely finished prior to the start of a new phase. To help illustrate the idea we will compare it to working in a bakery.
