Interview-Tell Me About Yourself Question
“Tell me about yourself” is a common interview question that’s often used as an icebreaker. I have been on hundreds of interviews and each one always starts with this question. It’s an opportunity for you to provide a brief overview of your background, experience, and what makes you a strong candidate for the position. I used to mess this part up initially, but as I got more experienced and went on more interviews I started realizing better way to answer this question.
Here’s a structured way to approach:
Smile:
Always smile, it helps breaks the relieve initial tension in both you and the interviewer. It also helps set the mood and tone for the rest of the conversation.
Start with a Brief Introduction:
Begin by sharing your name and a little about your background, such as your education and any relevant certifications.
Example: “Certainly. My name is [Your Name], and I recently graduated with a degree in [Your Field]. I also completed a certification in [Relevant Certification], which has equipped me with [mention skills or knowledge gained].”
