I Interviewed At Amazon And It Changed My Career

A few years ago I interviewed at Amazon for the SDET(Software Developer In Test) / QA Engineering role. This became one of the turning points in my career. I will go through the interview process, why it changed my career, and my key takeaways.

Interview Process

The initial part of the interview process was very straightforward and similar to other interviews I had been part of. I spoke to a recruiter first via email and then by phone. After the initial vetting I was scheduled for a 1 hour technical phone interview.

I got feedback that that had went well and then was told I would be brought on for an on site interview.

This is where it gets pretty cool because even though I was applying for a position based in NYC, they were going to fly me out to their headquarter in Seattle Washington, covering my hotel lodging and food along the way.
